“Ironbridge Runner” Peninsula Challenge.
Devon County Teams had mixed fortune in the annual Ironbridge Runner Peninsula Challenge competition against Cornwall held at the Brooks Plymouth Hoe 10 event.
The Devon Men’s team retained the Challenge Trophy in a very close competitive event winning by just two points.
The Devon Ladies came second to Cornwall by just one point despite having to make a late team change due to illness on the morning of the event.
Men’s Team:
Kairn Stone (Newham & Essex Beagles)
Tom Merson (South West RR)
Andrew Chambers (Exeter Harriers)
Jim Cole (Tavistock AC)
Lee Turner (Torbay AC)
Pete Walmsley (Tamar Trotters)
Ladies Team
Helen Parkinson (Torbay AC)
Alison Thorn (Womens Running Network)
Wendy Urban (Torbay AC)
Ruth Nickson (Erme Valley Harriers)
The Counties and my thanks are extended to them all for their efforts and support for the County.
A reminder about Race Permits from Paul Ross
You are all aware (as I have been banging on about it for two years) that UKA licensed Road Running officials will need to be named on Permit Applications before they can be processed for all events from January 2008. I am already receiving Permit Applications without a named referee on them and am returning them. Some of your clubs and areas are already well covered but there are areas in the County that are very light on officials (in particular the North and East of the County). If there is sufficient interest I am willing to hold another course in the county towards the end of the year. Remember it is in your own interest to have at least one official in your club - NO UKA LICENSED REFEREES NAME ON THE PERMIT APPLICATION - NO PERMIT ISSUED. This is a stipulation by UKA's insurance provider. You have been warned.
